Almost Done!

A little close up of the sparkles.

This is a 4 foot by 4 foot canvas commission.  There are a few more hours of work to be done.  I want to make one for me now.

Such a messy messy studio

Good Afternoon.  I just took these photos of my studio and thought I would share what it looks like after a few busy projects.  My hope is to clean it up a bit after I finish the chandelier I am working on.  Do wish me luck as the skies are getting grey and I am ready to go into winter hibernation.

If there is an empty flat space, I will fill it.

I don't know what it is like to sit on my little chaise.

The Party Starts Here

Good Morning.  This is my most recent dress chandelier painting.  It is 24" x 36" and so much fun.  It is a result of this chandelier that I have been working on since spring.

The studio is getting a good cleaning out this week and I wonder what kind of painting it will lead to next.  I am always finding ideas that I have cut out of something and put somewhere and then voila it is time to paint again.
In the meantime, the garden calls and the weeds are paying a visit.
Enjoy!

Finished the cakes

I thought maybe you might want to see the finished cakes. 24" x 8" and perfect for the little spaces between windows or next to a cabinet in the kitchen. They started out with a french grate that came across all three canvas and then I went after color...really bright color.
Enjoy the day!

Could not resist ONE more 5

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring...and we live in Oregon.

It's Show Time

 I have butterflies about tonight.
Thank goodness there are familiar faces . . .

What show would be complete without a 5?

Enjoy the day.  It looks like more rain for all the tomatoes I just planted; and the zinnias and sunflowers too.

One of My White Chairs

I was working on this chair yesterday and it turned white.  I have two white chairs like this that I just "had to buy" about 7 years ago because they were so "Parisian".  These are not my normal colours and I am still certain that the rain does something to them; hides them in one of my tupperware containers until the sun comes out. This pictures feels like one of those mornings in Paris when the shoppes are just opening up and I am walking on a cobblestone street watching everything in awe.  Thank you for visiting.

Let's Eat Lots of Cake

I started these cakes with a large French balcony grate
and then began to add lots of colour.
Today comes the flowers and fancies.  These are each 8" x 24".

About 10 years ago I started collecting white china with frilly edges.  And, I use them every day.  I though about keeping them for "good" but really don't know what that means. I think every day is a good day and some days are even better.  16" x 20".

There is something I remember when I paint with these colours. It might have been a plaid cotton dress I wore to school in 4th grade.  I keep tasting the colour.  30" x 40".

The Colours are Back!

The rain just kept coming for the last three weeks and I started painting brown pictures without using brown paint.  I had to leave the studio and do something else.  The sun came out a little bit yesterday and today and look what happened?  I am so happy!  24" x 36".
Enjoy your weekend.

Painting in the Rain

Entertaining is delightful when the plates do not match.

I like the idea that the flowers come right through the window to decorate the table.
This is a fun one for me to be painting.

Two Red Chairs

Two Red Chairs (or the colour of the moment)

I am still working on interior paintings.  These chairs are my all time second favorite next to the Paris park chairs I love so much.  I don't think they will end up red; but who knows.
Enjoy the day!

Saturday Class

We all got together in my studio at 9am on Saturday; Teri, Angie, Paula & Kiki.
The first order of business, after the coffee, tea and apple cake,
was to create a collage as a way to warm up.  We worked on these until noon.

After lunch we started painting a Tuscan landscape.

It is always amazing to me when I get the opportunity
to play art with women who have never or only a few times
painted and they create such amazing pieces.
I hope they all end up on their walls.

The next class is April 9, 2011.
Space if limited, so please sign up early.

Sitting in Paris Today

This morning Paris was on my mind; especially while I was working on this painting.  Still not done but it makes me want to check airline prices.  Stay warm.

Monday is Paint Day

I have been painting all morning and kept changing the vase.  Then I remembered my paisley stencil. It feels like something I remember from college days; perhaps a skirt or something.

I have a fabulous rose print done by Monet.  So, I decided to see if I could do roses above one of my favorite French grates.  Still in progress.

Painting on Monday

I have been painting the last couple of days with as much colour as I can put on a canvas.  These are 16" x 21" and hanging on my wall in the studio.  Not certain if they are completed yet.
Enjoy the day!

Saturday, January 29, 2011

This is the house I painted with the class.  I wonder what it will look like next.  It was the first time I saw the blue in the hills that Cezanne painted.  He is one of my painter heros along with Matisse, Bonnard, Vulliard & Monet.

Tuesday must be Lunaria Gallery Day

I am working at Lunaria Gallery in Silverton, Oregon today.  Here is a picture of my little wall.  We are a coop gallery of 25 members and each work 1 to 2 days per month.  It is a little piece of heaven to spend a day in a gallery of lovely art.
